The six members of the group E-Motion set off in search of the "2nd
ID" – their second identity. This lies in their personal
roots, their backgrounds, as well as in the different cultures which
have influenced the dancers. Hip hop is their everyday persona;
it is a way of life for them, a common means of expression which
still allows each to express his or her own individuality. From
‘B-Boying’ to ‘Popping’, ‘Locking’,
‘New Style’, ‘Krumping’ and ‘Housedance’,
a number of styles are represented in “2nd ID”, providing
insight into the diversity of the hip hop genre. Video projections
of personal statements made by the dancers contribute to the work
and put the performers into sharper focus. Hip hop has long since
become an inextricable part of the spectrum of contemporary dance.
