The makers of the elaborately composed work "directory: Tattoo" began by writing texts together, collecting movements and compiling early memories. Hence, moved memories and remembered movements play a major role in this dance piece, which is situated in the cool, objective space of the stage. An atmosphere of quiet concentration prevails; the five performers mostly keep to themselves with reduced movements while projections of excerpts from their collective texts pass by. These include phrases such as "today is the beginning of the rest of your life", conveying a sombre lyricism which deufert + plischke consistently pursue in this piece. The evocative music by Hubert Machnik is played live and constantly blends with the events on stage.

Kattrin Deufert and Thomas Plischke met in 2001 and set up the theatre label "frankfurter küche" They declared themselves the ‘artist-twin’ deufert + plischke and have worked since then on various projects ranging from performances, installations, workshops and publications to a guest-professorship at the University of Giessen. Since 2006 they have been staff members for MA courses in Performance Studies at the University of Hamburg. "directory: Tattoo" is the final part of their "directory" trilogy.
